Are exfoliating acids too harsh for my skin now?

Short answer

They may be too irritating for skin that is currently dry, burning, cracked, or reactive; “more exfoliation” is not a default menopause strategy.

Full answer

Are exfoliating acids too harsh for my skin now?

Acids such as glycolic, lactic, and salicylic acid have different actions and strengths. They can be useful for specific goals, but irritation risk depends on concentration, frequency, the rest of the formula, and the condition of your barrier.

When the skin is uncomfortable, simplify first. Reintroducing one active later gives you a clearer signal than layering several exfoliants and trying to guess which one caused a reaction.
