This page does not diagnose or prescribe. It is a prompt sheet you can take to a clinician you already trust. MenoDerm cannot book an appointment and does not recommend starting, stopping, or changing HRT or any other treatment.

Say

Bring the ordinary details. They matter more than a paper.

• “After I wash, my skin feels tight / stingy / papery.”
• When it started, and whether that lined up with menstrual change, a new medicine, or a new product.
• Where it happens (face, neck, body) and whether it itches, cracks, bleeds, or stings.
• What you already stopped, started, or use every night.
• Any prescribed creams, hormones, or other treatments you are already on — do not change them from this site.

You can mention that you read an educational summary of Kendall et al., Sci Rep. 2022;12:21715 (stratum corneum ceramides after menopause). That is context, not a diagnosis you are asking them to confirm.

Ask

• Could this be barrier dryness, irritant dermatitis, or something else that should be examined?
• Which of my current products or actives should I pause while we sort this?
• Do I need a dermatology referral, patch testing, or a prescription emollient?
• How should I think about hormones and skin without changing HRT from a webpage?

Go sooner

Contact a clinician promptly — same day or urgent care if that is what is available — for a spreading rash, pus, fever, painful cracking, bleeding, or new involvement of the eyes, genitals, or large areas of skin. Seek emergency help now for trouble breathing, swelling of the lips, tongue, or throat, faintness, severe eye pain or vision changes, blistering, or rapidly worsening skin. If you think a prescribed cream or hormone therapy is involved, contact the prescriber promptly; do not change it from this site.

Do not wait on a “tonight’s order” if those are present.
